So the NY Times compiled this list of places to see in 2013, 46 of them to be exact, and any wanderluster out there would appreciate this list! Click Here to check it out!
Rome, to be specific, and it was pretty awesome. No, I’m not catholic and no I didn’t go see the pope. But I did see ruins and old buildings that are more ancient than well… dirt. And some pretty cool scenery, an ice bar, some people from Paris tripping off molly. Got a sore throat I’m still recovering from, learned some even more ridiculous ways Ryanair may rip you off and crossed another country off of my bucket list.

Midnight in Rome
But most importantly got to see my brother who I haven’t seen since February!
My trip went well, at least I think so…
OH AND DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT MY SHORT STORIES! AT The Personnes Noires
This is how it went:
As you probably have noticed by now I am studying abroad in Mannheim, Germany for this semester. My only regret? Not deciding to stay longer, but it has given me hope into furthering my education in Europe (where I won’t have to sell a kidney to do so). Anyway, because I am an economics student and the work here is unbelievably intense at times I haven’t had much free time so the minute I got the chance to I went somewhere. I chose London as my first stop on my European adventure, and even though circumstances had it that I went I alone. I wouldn’t have it any other way it was wonderful! I saw so many things met some really amazing people and stayed in a world class hostel. seriously I’ve heard horror stories about hostels, but look at this place!
-> Honestly I took hundreds of photos here are a few of them though. You can check out my Facebook for the rest !

So I have moved to Germany, I’ve been living in Mannheim for about 3 weeks now, I’m sorry I haven’t updated this page it’s just that most of my energy has been channeled into my other blog The Personnes Noires so in a way I have neglected this blog 😦
I don’t mean to it’s just that coming here to study for a few months, having to learn a new language , and way of learning has taken up more of my time than I’d like to admit.
I’d love to be able to travel a bit more while I’m here, I just need to free up a bit of my time… but until then I have some pretty cool pictures that I’ve taken of Mannheim, Germany so far [SEE BELOW] And check out my blog, my stories are pretty awesome 😉
Lovely church near my FLAT.
My first bottle of wine here, it was crazy cheap like 2 euros, which was awesome.
That Church again…. but a night and a bit closer.

This is the ICE, Deutsch Bahn train …. this was taken at the Frankfurt airport before my arrival in Mannheim.
MORE TO COME. WHEN I HAVE SOME TIME. AND I MAY JUST EVEN MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT CULTURAL OBSERVATIONS.
I would like to thank everyone who’s been reading my rantings and ravings. Today marks a year since I decided that I should start a Blog! I’m very happy that I’ve done it and I am very grateful to have read everyone else whom I’ve met’s writing on WordPress. I will continue to be inspired, I will always write. Thank you everyone. Thank You WordPress.
Her knife sliced effortlessly through the steak, she stabbed it with the fork and wrapped her lips slowly around the succulent piece of meat. She ate in contented silence until she was interrupted by her date …
“So, tell me about yourself” he said cheerfully
“What an awfully generic question” she “thought” out loud absentmindedly. The gaze she pinned the young man with subsequently was wide and scrutinizing. Her statement was meant to sting, his face fell…
It took him a few moments to gather his wits, I’m dealing with a real bitch here he thought. Of course he had more manners than to think it out loud.
‘It’s generic to want to know about your date? A blind date at that,” he was affronted, not that she cared to notice at all. She had moved onto her mashed potatoes sighing heavily; she was bothered.
“What do you want to know?” she rolled her eyes putting another bite into her mouth.
He shrugged looking younger than his 32 years “I don’t know… Anything?” he seemed hopeful
“Okay,” she acquiesced “I am a… sociopath,” she returned her disconcerting gaze to his moss green eyes. She stabbed another piece of steak and chewed daintily waiting for his response.
“A sociopath?” his eyebrows shot up
“Yes.” she answered simply
“A sociopath…” he played with the word smirking at her “I just don’t believe that,” he chuckled.
“No, lie to me,”
sarcasm, he thought
“I feel like this bitchy exterior most women present is a front. You know? Like protection, they don’t want to be hurt,” he said silkily “But, I’m not that kind of guy,”
“So you think you know women?”
I know women, probably better than you think you know men,” he smiled.
“I know what men are, I know how they think,” she put her utensils down “This date isn’t going your way and you thought your cute little routine, which you’ve probably been practicing, could bring some life back into this date,”
“Uh…” He was all he could say
“You’re probably trying to figure out what you’ll do tonight, since it probably won’t be me,” She taunted “You’ll play some mundane video game then, jerk-it to some porn? Check your fantasy football league? You’ll probably retire wondering why it didn’t work out with your ex, you’ll also think about why women like me pass you, your poorly tailored suits, bad haircuts, and your disgusting cologne over,” she picked up her utensils and placed another piece of steak in her mouth and chewed slowly watching as everything washed Charles…or was his name David? Daniel? It didn’t matter because he was flustered and this entertained her.
What a bitch…
“Well, I know how you women work! ” His voice was louder than he anticipated
“Yes?” she teased
“After this date you’ll go back and talk about how terrible and cheap men are. You’ll complain about the steakhouse, probably isn’t expensive enough for you. You probably don’t even eat meat. You’ll cry on your girlfriend’s shoulder about men and your weight while you down a gallon of ice cream. You’ll paint your nails , beautify yourself then go out the next night to another steakhouse,” he took a deep breath.
She regarded him carefully before responding “Hmm… I’ll begin by saying I love meat and I think people who refuse to eat it are silly. It doesn’t matter how expensive or inexpensive this steakhouse is I planned to pay the bill, if that in anyway offends your masculinity I’ll just pay my portion of the bill,” she cocked her to one side and slid her finger back and forth over her bottom lip, this distracted him until she began again ” I don’t cry, it’s an awful waste of time. I have the ability to but I only found this trick useful when I was younger it is no longer effective in my late twenties. I don’t eat ice cream, I eat frozen yogurt, because I take care if my body and I’d rather but complain about my weight if I can do something about it. I don’t paint my own nails , I have a woman for that,” she paused still staring into his eyes “And lastly, I don’t have any female friends, I really don’t have friends at all,”
“I wonder why that is,” he muttered
” I don’t,” she replied still staring into his eyes … She was impressed he hadn’t looked away
” You have a really strong gaze, it’s relentless” he said
“Yes, I know,” she said matter-of-factly ” it’s how I am able to gauge who you are.”
The side of his mouth curled up “your place or mine?” he said boldly
“Neither” she said flatly, she summoned the waiter “check please, I needed it an hour ago,”
I am having the diamond placed under my skin today , I am nervous. You only get married once right? And even if you are to be married twice there will always be that scar from the last diamond they’d removed from beneath your skin. Nicore’s mother is thrice divorced, and she will have to wear an actual ring the fourth time she’ll be married ,Nicore is embarrassed by this. I don’t know why this embarrasses her they used to wear rings on the left hand many years ago to indicate marriage. She was the one who claimed she “just loved vintage” …
I have heard many stories or people having their gems removed and their veins being nicked and then dying. Most people think its uber poetic and all to die because you’ve had to be separated from your ‘soul-mate’ … I think it’s tragic and an uber waste of life. Why should that person die because they’d unfortunately gotten involved with the wrong person.? Especially these days when people were so desperate to marry off their children because of the futile attempts to reproduce and up our dying population…
My mother thought for the longest time that I spoke like a ‘feminist lesbian’. I’ve had to remind her too many times that the latter terms aren’t necessarily synonymous but she’s ignorant, old and opinionated. She’d always say things like “you’ll never be married will you? Or have children? I’ll die never being a grandmother… Or watching you walk down the aisle in some off-white dress because heavens knows you probably shouldn’t wear white.” I love my mother, honestly, even if she often made seriously wrong inferences about my sexual status. I tell myself she means well to stop myself from lacing her oatmeal with rat poison.
Darian is my fiancé, he’s tall , serious, handsome, financially stable and the perfect gentleman, honestly.
He’s “passionate” about his work [money] at the financial ministry, I pretend to listen. Truth be told it bores me to know the financial status of those in our area… He had a couple of hobbies when we first started dating like coin collecting, and bat mitten also Tetris and solitaire. He has since forgotten them in his avaricious attempts at climbing the ranks at the ministry.
Our only attempt at sex went so horribly that we’ve decided to forgo the whole thing until we’ve officially married in the eyes of the judiciaries, and our diamonds have been implanted … I’m fine with it.
I am Aria, born 26 years ago in the 16th area of the world consulate. Today I’m having my diamond placed. I’m being married today to Darian. I’m excited about this, honestly.
I get to wear an expensive gown, and plenty of jewelry, I get to have the diamond placed under my skin in my society’s gruesome attempt at slowing the divorce rate. My reception will have many cakes and pastries and wonderful catering. The best part will be the wine, which I’ll probably not need for a good time, honestly.
My mother is up and shuffling about, I can hear her; she isn’t graceful. I’m laying in my bed staring at my left hand “you’ll never be the same,” I mutter and part of me knows I’m not just talking to my hand.
